Travel in Madagascar is definitely possible on a very limited budget: taxi-brousse, hiking, very basic hotels, and backpacking, but primarily for the very young (or at least very young at heart), very adventurous visitors who have unlimited patience and no time constraints. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer assistance with hotel reservations or any local arrangements for this trip category, but please feel free to peruse our website as it will provide invaluable information to help you "do it yourself". A good guide book such as "Guide to Madagascar" by Hilary Bradt should also be very helpful. If you reside in the United States or Canada, we will be glad to assist you with the lowest possible airfares to, from, and within Madagascar via Air Madagascar, as well as issue an entry visa upon request.
