A trip to Madagascar always starts and ends in Antananarivo or "Tana," but it is the nature, far from the capital, which is captivating. Our Independent Itineraries page highlights the best of Madagascar with the first-time visitor in mind, and each traveler may learn more about the various regions by simply clicking on the Regions of Madagascar page. Then select one of our Recommended Itineraries package or mix, match and customize a journey most suited to your particular interests, stamina, physical abilities, attitude and expectations.
At this writing Madagascar has 30 national parks and protected areas; however, due to the extremely limited infrastructure, only a handful are reasonably accessible and offer acceptable accommodations. For this reason we feature the destinations listed below.
We also offer an informative pamphlet which includes a summary chart of all Parks and Reserves, plus a description, climate, vegetation, animal species, facilities, and trails for each park. Just send a self-addressed, stamped ($1.52 USD/$1.85Canada) 9"x12" envelope to the address at the bottom of this page and we will gladly send you the pamphlet by return mail.
